Forgiveness is a great virtue. Forgiveness is a quality through which you can turn even your eternal enemy into a friend. You can transform a bad person into a good person. Although I don't know about other religions, as a Muslim I know the importance of forgiveness in Islam. One of the ninety-nine adjectives of God is that He is the Most Forgiving. And it is the duty of every Muslim to attribute himself to Allah. So our duty as Muslims is to forgive ourselves and to exalt ourselves to the attributes of Allah.
When the issue of forgiveness comes up, another question arises. How many times should a man be forgiven for his mistake? Once, twice, three times or innumerable times? This is a very complex question. Despite much thought, I have not been able to find the right answer to this question.
When a person makes a mistake for the first time, he can do it unknowingly and knowingly. If he does not know, then he has the right to be forgiven, even if it is a little. Again, I think he should be forgiven even if it is for a second chance to do something good if he makes a mistake knowingly. But if someone makes the same mistake over and over again, if he keeps on forgiving him, it will be ingrained in his mind that he will be forgiven. Then even if he makes a mistake, he will not have any problem. Repeatedly forgiving for this is also harmful.
So how many times will we forgive a man? Is it pre-determined or will it change depending on the situation?
One of the most complex questions of my life. Which I think is very difficult to solve.
