Today I played that retro-style game again. The first day I played it yesterday, my score was relatively good. I couldn't break any records or score particularly well in today's game—the score stood at 1932. Yet surprisingly, today's game gave me as much joy as yesterday, but even more fun.
We often think that games mean competition, meaning the highest score. But I play I realize that real joy is not in the score, but in moments game. When we try catch save the ball one after another in game, attention and excitement work together. Every small moment becomes a source joy.
In today's game, my strategies may not have worked properly, something went wrong, and at times I could not maintain my attention. Still, there is a different excitement in trying again every time. When the game says "Game Over", it may feel bad for a second, but the next moment I feel—"Let's try again!" This attitude of accepting the challenge actually makes the game more interesting.
Another great aspect is that although this game is very simple, there is a kind of addiction inside it. Every time I sit down play, I feel like I will do a little better than previous one. Even though todays score is lower than yesterday, it still feels like I will have try again tomorrow. Each day offers a different experience, and that is the real beauty game.
Finally, I would like to say that the joy and fun you get while playing the game is the real thing, rather than increasing your score or setting a record. Today's score of 1932 may not be a very big achievement, but for me it is a great experience. Because at the end of the day, it is not the score, but the joy that is the greatest achievement.
