Coronavirus has not been seen anywhere for a long time due to the situation. After opening everything in a limited range, I came back to Nikli Haor in Kishoreganj in the rainy season. I am leaving Mymensingh with my two friends Atiq and Belal. There is not much of a hurry to have their own car.
Upstream-downstream combined, river-haor-fish-filled - this is the identity of Kishoreganj district. Being a haoranchal, fish farming is the main occupation of the residents here. They raise chickens and ducks in the pond in an integrated manner. These areas are visible while walking along the road.
Kishoreganj is as beautiful as any other village in Bengal. Filled with trees all around. The horizon is wide field. Seeing all this, while talking to my friends, I reached Nikli Upazila, about 25 km away from Kishoreganj Sadar. Small villages floating like an island, dancing in the clear water, fishermen are busy fishing, small water forests like ratargul and fish of different tastes in the haor. These experiences can be found in Nikli's wonderful haor trip. Nikli looked at the sky from a distance. The water seemed to soak the sky all around. But if there is no heavy rain, people travel through the middle of the haor.
Small and big shops have sprung up in the Nikli embankment centered on tourists. There are small boats as well as motor boats. These can be rented around Haor at will. Rent of small boat is 300-400 rupees per hour. In case of big boat you have to pay 700-800 rupees. You can go to distant upazila especially Ashtagram or Mithamin with boat rental. Besides, there are motorcycles and autorickshaws in Nikli embankment. These vehicles can be rented as bells to go around.
At noon I ate rice with haor fish. The taste is still in the mouth. The price is relatively cheap. The food hotels here are of medium quality. The whole plate can be eaten for 100-150 TK.
After Pet Puja, we went to another part of Nikli Haor. The joy of seeing the road on either side of the haor is different. Household houses on both sides. Cows and goats graze. It feels great to walk on a rural path under the bright sky. The haystack reminds me of my childhood. The ducks of different colors are surrounded by nets in the haor pond. These have been painted. This is the way to get lost or not. Since fishing is the main occupation of the residents here, the scene of weaving nets can be seen on the way. Sometimes they look at the weaving of the net with bored eyes.
When the afternoon is over, the sun sets on the horizon. I never want to see such a scene. The more I see, the more fascinated I become. But time is limited. Take the way back with a lot of good looks. The whistling sound of the haor is still in my ears. Travel information
If you want to go by bus, you have to get up from the jute warehouse area of Mymensingh. The rent will be 100-150 rupees per person. Nikli Haor can be reached by CNG autorickshaw or rickshaw at Katiadi or Kishoreganj bus stand.
Buses leave from Dhaka to Kishoreganj from Golapbagh ground near Sayedabad. In this case also Katiadi has to go down.
Apart from buses, train communication between Kishoreganj and Dhaka is very good. The intercity train Egarasindur Express leaves from Kamalapur railway station at 8 am. Wednesday closed weekly. If you go by train, you have to get off at Gachihata before Kishoreganj.
