We've all probably heard the name Amazon Jungle. Where it does not end. It is not just the largest forest in the world. In terms of biodiversity and density. The number of plants or animals per square meter in this forest is nowhere to be seen. The second largest river in the world flows through this forest which is about five and a half crore years old. This Amazon jungle is so large that nine countries in the world have political control over it. However, large areas of the forest are being deforested for commercial reasons, resulting in a gradual decline in the ability to absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. The adverse effects of climate change have led to the death toll.

 According to the research of scientists, this forest was created approximately 50 million years ago. Earlier, the movement of surface tectonic plates increased the distance between the two continents, Africa and South America. The size of the Atlantic Ocean between the two continents continues to grow. At the same time, temperatures and rainfall in the far corners of the earth increase.

 This resulted in the creation of this vast forest in the Amazon River Basin. It took the Amazon nearly two million years to turn into a full-fledged jungle from the beginning. However, before the deforestation began for commercial reasons, the forest spread across the eastern part of South America. Officially, the current area of ​​the Amazon forest is about 5.5 million square kilometers. Simple calculation is equal to forty Bangladeshis in size. If the Amazon Jungle were a single state, it would be recognized as the ninth largest state in the world. The Amazon is again called the tropical rain-prone forest. When you hear about Amazon, you think of Brazil, but the Amazon forest is controlled by 9 countries. Although 60 percent control is on the Brazilian border. The Amazon, one of the two largest rivers in the world, flows through the longest forest in the world with a length of 7000 km. The longest river in the world is the Nile River in Egypt but there is no river in the world near the banks of the Amazon River. The Amazon River originates in the Andes Mountains. Martin Sell, a US citizen, set a world record in 2007 by swimming in the Amazon River from its source. It took him 66 days to do it. The number of plants and animals living in the forest is alarming. So far, biologists have not been able to explore all parts of the Amazon rainforest. About 40,000 plants have been found here so far. Lots of birds live near these, out of which they have found about one and a half thousand birds. In addition, the Amazon's Jago and the tiger's name is significant, they go down into the water and eat crocodiles. There are about three thousand species of fish in the Amazon River that flows through the jungle. In addition, the poisonous frogs that live in the Amazon are particularly noticeable. There are places in the Amazon rainforest where sunlight has not yet reached. Being destroyed indiscriminately for large and commercial reasons.

 

 It is completely wrong to compare natural beauty with anyone else. Its beauty cannot be described. And the need of the forest for all the survival of our minds is immense. Let us protect ourselves, protect society, protect the country, protect the world, protect the forest.

আমরা সবাই অ্যামাজন জঙ্গলের নাম হয়তো বা শুনেছি। যেখানে এটার শেষ নয়। এটা শুধু পৃথিবীর বৃহত্তম বন নয়। জীব বৈচিত্রের বিচারে ও ঘনত্বের শীর্ষ অধিকারী। এই বনে প্রতি বর্গমিটারে যে সংখ্যার উদ্ভিদ বা প্রাণী রয়েছে তা কোথাও চোখে পড়বে না। প্রায় সাড়ে পাঁচ কোটি বছরের পুরোনো এই বনের মধ্য দিয়ে বয়ে গেছে পৃথিবীর দ্বিতীয় বৃহত্তম নদী। এই আমাজন জঙ্গল আয়তনে এত বড় যে রাজনৈতিকভাবে এটার উপর নিয়ন্ত্রণ রয়েছে পৃথিবীর নয়টি দেশের। তবে বাণিজ্যিক কারণে এই বনের বিস্তীর্ণ এলাকা উজাড় করা হচ্ছে যার পরিণতিতে যার ফলে বায়ুমণ্ডল থেকে কার্বন-ডাই-অক্সাইড শোষণের ক্ষমতা ও ক্রমশ হ্রাস পাচ্ছে। জলবায়ু পরিবর্তনের বিরূপ প্রভাবে এটা মরার ওপর খাঁড়ার ঘায়ের উপক্রম করেছে।

 

 

বিজ্ঞানীদের গবেষণা অনুযায়ী এই বনটি সৃষ্টি হয়েছিল আনুমানিক সাড়ে 5 কোটি বছর আগে। এর আগে ভূপৃষ্ঠের টেকনোটিক প্লেটগুলোর চলন এর ফলে আফ্রিকা এবং দক্ষিণ আমেরিকা এই দুটো ভূখণ্ডের মধ্যে দূরত্ব বাড়তে থাকে। দুই মহাদেশের মধ্যবর্তী আটলান্টিক মহাসাগরের আয়তন ও বাড়তে থাকে। একই সময় পৃথিবীর প্রান্ত এলাকার তাপমাত্রা ও বৃষ্টিপাতের পরিমাণ বেড়ে যায়।

যার ফলে অ্যামাজন নদীর অববাহিকায় বিশাল এই বনাঞ্চলটি সৃষ্টি হয়। সূচনা থেকে পূর্ণাঙ্গ জঙ্গলে পরিণত হতে অ্যামাজনের সময় লেগেছে প্রায় দুই কোটি বছর। অবশ্য বাণিজ্যিক কারণে বনাঞ্চল ধ্বংস শুরুর আগে দক্ষিণ আমেরিকার পূর্ব অঞ্চল জুড়ে এই বনের বিস্তৃতি ছিল। আনুষ্ঠানিকভাবে আমাজন বনের বর্তমান আয়তন প্রায় 55 লাখ বর্গ কিলোমিটার। সহজ হিসাব এটি আয়তনে চল্লিশটি বাংলাদেশের সমান। অ্যামাজন জঙ্গল টি যদি কোন একক রাষ্ট্র হতো, তাহলে এটি পৃথিবীতে নবম বৃহত্তম রাষ্ট্রের স্বীকৃতি অর্জন করত। আমাজন কি আবার ক্রান্তীয় বৃষ্টি প্রবণ বন বলা হয়। অ্যামাজনের কথা শুনলেই ব্রাজিল দেশটির কথা মাথায় চলে আসে কিন্তু আমাজন বন টি 9 টি দেশের নিয়ন্ত্রণে আছে। যদিও 60 ভাগ নিয়ন্ত্রণ ব্রাজিল সীমানায়। পৃথিবীর দীর্ঘতম বনের মধ্য দিয়ে বয়ে চলেছে পৃথিবীর বৃহত্তম দুটো নদীর একটি আমাজন যার 7000 কিলোমিটার যার দৈর্ঘ্য। পৃথিবীর দীর্ঘতম নদী নীলনদ মিশরের কিন্তু পানি প্রবাহে আমাজন নদীর ধারে কাছে পৃথিবীর কোনো নদীই নেই। অ্যামাজন নদীর উৎপত্তি হয়েছে আন্দিজ পর্বতমালা থেকে। কিন্তু এটি প্রশান্ত সাগরে মিলিত হওয়ার বদলে 7 হাজার কিলোমিটার ঘুরে আটলান্টিক মহাসাগরে মিশেছে। এই দীর্ঘ নদী আমাজন সাঁতার কেটে উৎপত্তি স্থান থেকে মোহনায় পৌঁছে এক বিশ্ব রেকর্ড করেছেন যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের নাগরিক মার্টিন সেল 2007 সালে। 66 দিন সময় লেগেছিল তার এটা করতে। জঙ্গলে বসবাসকারী উদ্ভিদ ও প্রাণীর সংখ্যা ও আঁতকে ওঠার মতো। এখনো পর্যন্ত জীববিজ্ঞানীদের পক্ষে ঘুরে দেখা সম্ভব হয়নি আমাজন বনের সব অংশ। এ পর্যন্ত এখানে প্রায় 40,000 উদ্ভিদের সন্ধান পেয়েছে। এসব কাছে বাস করে প্রচুর পাখি যার মধ্য থেকে প্রায় দেড় হাজার পাখি তারা খুঁজে পেয়েছেন। এছাড়া অ্যামাজনের জাগো আর বাঘের নাম উল্লেখযোগ্য এরা পানিতে নেমে কুমির শিকার করে খায়। জঙ্গলের মধ্য দিয়ে বয়ে যাওয়া আমাজন নদীতে রয়েছে প্রায় তিন হাজার প্রজাতির মাছ। এছাড়া অ্যামাজনে বসবাসকারী বিষাক্ত ব্যাঙ বিশেষ উল্লেখযোগ্য সোনালী রংয়ের এই ব্যাঙের ত্বক থেকে প্রচন্ড বিষাক্ত বিষ নিঃসৃত হয়। অ্যামাজন বনে এমন এমন জায়গা আছে যেখানে এখনও পর্যন্ত সূর্যের আলো পৌঁছায় নি। বৃহত্তম এবং বাণিজ্যিক কারণে নির্বিচারে ধ্বংস করা হচ্ছে।

 

প্রাকৃতিক সৌন্দর্য্যকে অন্য কারো সাথে তুলনা করাটা সম্পূর্ণ ভুল। এটার সৌন্দর্য বর্ণনা করে শেষ করা যাবে না। এবং আমাদের মনের সকল বেঁচে থাকার জন্য বনের প্রয়োজনীয়তা অপরিসীম। আসুন আমরা নিজেদেরকে রক্ষা করতে, সমাজকে রক্ষা করতে ,দেশকে রক্ষা করতে ,পৃথিবীকে রক্ষা করতে বনকে রক্ষা করি।
