It is very important for a citizen to have birth registration certificate. But if you want to collect this certificate, you have to be very fast. Soon after the birth of the child, along with other important tasks, parents should register the child's name in the government register.
The documents required for birth registration of children within the first 45 days after birth are:
1. Print copy of online application form.
2. One copy of passport size photograph of the child.
3. Child's EPI (Expanded Program on Immunization) vaccination card or certificate from EPI staff
4. Attested copy of birth certificate from hospital or clinic or certificate of birth attendant or any other proof of birth of child as evidence of place and date of birth of child.
5. Online registered birth certificate of parents in both English and Bengali languages.
6. National Identity Card of parents.
7. Tax payment proof of either parent of the child.
Anything else you need-
1. Print copy of online application form.
2. One copy of passport size photograph of the child.
3. Certificate from a doctor with MBBS or above degree recognized by Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council.
4. PSC (Primary School Leaving Certificate), JSC (Junior School Certificate) or SSC (Secondary School Certificate).
5. Online registered birth certificate of parents in Bengali-English languages.
6. National Identity Card of parents.
7. Renewed tax payment proof against the place mentioned as permanent address in the name of father/mother/grandfather/grandmother subject to proof of place of birth or permanent address
Or, land/house purchase deed, rent and tax payment receipts in case of river erosion/ permanent address is lost due to any reason.
OR, Certificate of Municipal Chairman or Ward Councilor subject to proof of residence
Rules for doing birth registration online
Currently, birth registration applications are no longer accepted by filling in handwritten forms. Apply online and then submit the filled form along with necessary documents to the nearest local government office.
To apply for birth registration online, first go to Bangladesh Government Birth and Death Registration website.
On the first screen, select the local government office to collect the birth registration certificate. Candidate can get certificate from his own place of birth, permanent address or present address.
The next step will be the candidate's name-address and parents' information. If the candidate was born before 2001, only the name of the parents is required. Otherwise, the National Identity Card number of the parents should be given.
Finally the candidate has to give the phone number where the message regarding the application of the birth certificate will come.
After completing the online application, the received application form should be downloaded and printed. Then attach the necessary documents to the nearest local government office and submit it along with the birth registration fee within a maximum of 15 working days.
At the time of submission, the responsible officer will keep the office copy and give a customer copy. Finally, when the birth certificate confirmation message arrives on the mobile, this customer copy should be taken along on the day of taking the certificate.
An Application ID is given after completing the online application. By providing this ID and date of birth of the candidate, the progress status of the birth registration application can be known online.
Birth registration fee and timing
1. Birth registration of children above 45 days is free.
2. 25 taka fee for birth registration of children aged 46 days to 5 years.
3. Birth certificate correction fee 100 taka.
4. To get the original certificate in both Bengali-English languages or to get a copy of the certificate after correcting the information can be done completely free of cost.
5. But to get a copy of the birth registration certificate in both Bengali-English languages, 50 taka.
Birth registration fee has to be paid at the time of submitting the application form along with the necessary documents to the concerned City Corporation/Municipality/Union Parishad office. Generally, birth registration certificate is generated within 5 working days from the date of application. But it often takes months to get the birth certificate.
