After many dramas, the grain ship finally left Ukraine. On Monday, the ship left Odessa port for Lebanon with about 26,000 tons of corn. According to Turkey and the United Nations, 15 more cargo ships are still waiting at the port.

The whole world was waiting for such a moment. The grain-carrying ship Razoni left the Ukrainian port of Odessa on Monday morning local time. The cargo ship has 26,000 tons of corn. The Syrian-Leone-flagged vessel is bound for Lebanon. The United Nations, Ukraine and Turkish officials cheered after the grain ship finally left port. Earlier, there was confusion about the fulfillment of contract terms and security.

 

Alexander Kubrakov, Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine, said, "Ukraine has taken another effective step to solve the food crisis in the world by coordinating with allied countries. In addition, by re-opening the port of Odessa, our economy also has the opportunity to earn about 1 billion dollars in foreign currency."

 

According to the Turkish authorities, the ship will arrive in Istanbul on Tuesday under the supervision of Ankara. The ship will depart after searching and checking there. There are still 15 grain ships waiting in Odessa port. 25 million tons of grain will be sent first to famine-stricken African countries. Later it will be exported to other countries.

 

Russia-Ukraine war started last February. It stopped grain supply from Ukraine and Russia. As a result, food shortages occur all over the world. To deal with that situation, Moscow and Kiev signed a moderate agreement mediated by Turkey on July 22. The United Nations led this historic initiative.

 

I think food shortages will be quite normal all over the world due to this grain export.
