বন্ধুরা সবাই কেমন আছেন? আশা করি আল্লাহ্ তায়ালার রহমতে অনেক ভাল আছেন, আমিও আপনাদের দোয়া এবং আল্লাহ্ তায়ালার রহমতে অনেক ভাল আছি ।
সিরাজগঞ্জ জেলার অন্যতম একটা থানা হচ্ছে কাজিপুর, এই কাজিপুরের একটা ইউনিয়নের নাম গান্দাইল । অল্প কিছুদিন পর এখানে ইউনিয়ন পরিষদ নির্বাচন ।
আমরা জানি ইতিমধ্যে বাংলাদেশের অনেক যায়গাতে ইউনিয়ন পরিষদ নির্বাচন অনুষ্ঠিত হয়ে গেছে । পর্যায়ক্রমে বাংলাদেশের সব ইউনিয়নে নির্বাচন অনুষ্ঠিত হবে । সেই ধারাবাহিকতায় আমাদের গান্দাইল ইউনিয়নের নির্বাচন পরবর্তী ধাপেই অনুষ্ঠিত হবে ।
আমাদের গান্দাইল ইউনিয়নের ১নং ওয়ার্ড হচ্ছে দুই গ্রাম, আমাদের গ্রাম (পূর্ব খুকশিয়া) এবং আমাদের পাশের গ্রাম (পাটাগ্রাম) । ইতিমধ্যেই এই দুই গ্রামে নির্বাচনের প্রভাব পড়ে গেছে, দিন যত যাচ্ছে সবার মধ্যে নির্বাচনের প্রভাবটাও তত বেশি বাড়তেছে।
বিশেষ করে যারা এই দুই গ্রাম থেকে নির্বাচনে অংশ গ্রহণ করে প্রতিদ্বন্দ্বিতা করবে তারা এখন থেকে মাঠে নেমে পড়েছে । ভোটারদের বাড়ি বাড়ি যাচ্ছে, সবার থেকে দোয়া নিচ্ছে, ভোট চাচ্ছে । এমনি অনেকে এলাকার মধ্যে নির্বাচনী অফিস বানিয়ে নিয়েছে ।
এবারের নির্বাচন মনে হয় একটু অন্যরকম হবে । প্রত্যেক ইউনিয়ন পরিষদ নির্বাচনে এই দুই গ্রামের মধ্যে উত্তেজনা সৃষ্টি করে । কোন কোন সময় দুই গ্রামের মধ্যে ঝগড়া এবং মারামারি পর্যন্ত হয়ে যায় ।
ছোট বেলায় একবার দেখেছিলাম, আমাদের গ্রাম থেকে আব্দুল মান্নান মন্ডল মেম্বার হিসেবে নির্বাচিত হয়েছিলেন, আর দুই গ্রামের মধ্যে মারামারি, ধাওয়া পাল্টা ধাওয়া হয়েছিল, পরে বিচারের মাধ্যমে মীমাংসা হয়েছিল ।
এবার যারা এই নির্বাচনে প্রতিদ্বন্দ্বিতা করবে তার মধ্যে একজন বর্তমান মেম্বার মোঃ রকিবুল আজম রকি । যাকে আমরা সবাই রকি মেম্বার হিসেবে চিনে থাকি । রকি আমার ছোট বেলার বন্ধু, প্রাথমিক এক সাথে পঞ্চম শ্রেণী পর্যন্ত পড়েছি । এক সাথে খেলাধুলা করতাম, এক সাথে থাকতাম । লোক হিসেবে খুব ভাল, আমাদের ১নং ওয়ার্ডে আজ পর্যন্ত যত মেম্বার হয়েছে রকি সবার চেয়ে ভাল ।
আরেকজন এই নির্বাচনে প্রতিদ্বন্দ্বিতা করবে সে হচ্ছে আমার আপন চাচাতো ভাই মোঃ শফিকুল ইসলাম তালুকদার । আমরা সবাই তাকে শফি ভাই হিসেবে চিনে থাকি । সে একজন ব্যবসায়ী, আমাদের সীমান্ত বাজার তার একটা কাপড়ের দোকান আছে, লোক হিসেবে ভাল । এবারের নির্বাচনে শফি ভাই জয় পাওয়ার সম্ভাবনা বেশি কারণ আওয়ামী লীগ দল থেকে ভাই এর প্রতি সমর্থন থাকবে ।
দুই গ্রাম থেকে আরো অনেকে প্রতিদ্বন্দ্বিতা করবে যার মধ্যে একজন এই ওয়ার্ড এর সাবেক মেম্বার মরহুম খোকা শেখের ছেলে মোঃ শামীম রেজা । আরেক জন শেখ মোঃ রিপন । আরেক জন মোঃ আবু বকর । আরো কয়েক জন আছে সবার কথা আর উল্যেখ করলাম না ।
এই নির্বাচনে কাকে ভোট দেওয়া যায় সেটা নিয়ে একটু চিন্তায় আছি, শেষ পর্যন্ত কি হয় সেটাই দেখার বিষয় ।

One of the thanas of Sirajganj district is Kazipur, the name of a union of this Kazipur is Gandail. Union council elections are here a few days later.
We know that Union Parishad elections have already been held in many parts of Bangladesh. Elections will be held in all the unions of Bangladesh in phases. In that continuity, the election of our Gandail Union will be held in the next step.
Ward No. 1 of our Gandail Union consists of two villages, our village (East Khukshia) and our neighboring village (Patagram). The impact of the election has already been felt in these two villages, and as the days go by, the impact of the election among all is increasing.
Especially those who will contest from these two villages by taking part in the elections are now on the field. Voters are going from house to house, taking blessings from everyone, asking for votes. Many of them have set up election offices in the area.
This time the election seems to be a little different. Every union council election created tension between these two villages. Sometimes there are quarrels and fights between the two villages.
As I saw when I was a child, Abdul Mannan from our village was elected as a mandal member, and there were fights, chases and counter-chases between the two villages, which were later settled by trial.
This time Md. Rakibul Azam Rocky is one of the current members who will contest in this election. We all know him as a Rocky Member. Rocky is my childhood friend, I studied up to fifth grade with primary one. We used to play together, we used to live together. Very good as a person, Rocky is the best member in our 1st ward till date.
Another person who will contest in this election is my own cousin Md. Shafiqul Islam Talukder. We all know him as Shafi Bhai. He is a businessman, he has a clothing store in our border market, good as a man. Shafi Bhai is more likely to win this election because there will be support for him from Awami League party.
Many more from two villages will compete, one of whom is Md. Shamim Reza, son of late Khoka Sheikh, a former member of this ward. Another Sheikh Md. Ripon. Another is Md. Abu Bakr. There are a few more people, I did not mention all.
I am a little worried about who can be voted in this election, it remains to be seen what will happen in the end.
