ঢাকা থেকে সিরাজগঞ্জ এর উদ্দেশ্যে একটা বাস রওয়ানা হল, সেই বাসে একজন বৃদ্ধা মহিলা উঠল। বাসে উঠতেই বৃদ্ধা মহিলা বাসের কন্ট্রেকটারকে বলল যে বাস যখন গাজীপুর পৌঁছাবে তখন আমাকে ডেকে দিয়ো, বাসের কন্ট্রেকটার মাথা নেড়ে সম্মতি জানিয়ে বলল, আচ্ছা ঠিক আছে আপনাকে ডেকে দিব।

বাস যখন আব্দুল্লাহপুর এসে পৌঁছে তখন ঐ বৃদ্ধা মহিলা আবার কন্ট্রেকটারকে ডেকে বলে যে গাজীপুর আসলে আমাকে ডেকে দিও, বাসের কন্ট্রেকটার আবার মাথা নেড়ে সম্মতি জানিয়ে বলে যে, আচ্ছা ঠিক আছে আপনাকে ডেকে দিব। বৃদ্ধা মহিলা নিশ্চিত মনে ঘুমালো।

বাস গাজীপুর আসল তখন কন্ট্রেকটার ঐ বৃদ্ধা মহিলাকে ডাকতে ভুলে গেল এবং বাস গাজীপুর পার হয়ে টাঙ্গাইল এর কাছাকাছি পৌঁছে গেল, বাস যখন টাঙ্গাইল এর কাছাকাছি তখন কন্ট্রেকটার এর মনে পড়ল যে বৃদ্ধা মহিলা তো গাজীপুর নামতে চেয়েছিল, তখন কন্ট্রেকটার দেখল বৃদ্ধা মহিলা ঘুমাচ্ছে, তখন কন্ট্রেকটার বাসের ড্রাইভারকে বলল বাস ঘুমান, কারণ ঐ বৃদ্ধা মহিলা গাজীপুর নামবে, সে বৃদ্ধা মানুষ তাকে সেখানে নামাতে হবে।

বাস যখন গাজীপুরের দিকে নেওয়া হল তখন বাসের অন্য যাত্রীরা রেগে গেল, বাসের কন্ট্রেকটার সবার সাথে কথা বলে বিষয়টা ঠিক করে নিল। এবার বাস যখন গাজীপুর এসে পৌঁছাল তখন কন্ট্রেকটার ঐ বৃদ্ধা মহিলাকে ডেকে দিল এবং বলল যে, গাজীপুর চলে এসেছে আপনি নামুন। তখন বৃদ্ধা মহিলা বলল যে, আমি তো গাজীপুর নামবো না, আমি যাব সিরাজগঞ্জ। আমরা ছেলে বলেছে যে যখন গাজীপুর আসবে তখন এই ঔষধটা খেয়ে নিতে তাই তোমাকে ডাকতে বলেছি।

এই কথা শুনে বাসের কন্ট্রেকটার হতভম্ব হয়ে গেল, তখন বাসের অন্য সব যাত্রী আরও রেগে গেল। এখন বাসের কন্ট্রেকটার কি করবে বুঝতে পারছে না! হাসতেও পারছে না, আবার কান্না করতেও পারছে না। আমাদেরও অনেক সময় এই রকম পরিস্থিতিতে পরতে হয়।
