পুরা বিশ্বের সমস্ত মানুষের মধ্যে মোবাইল ফোনের আসক্তি দিনদিন বৃদ্ধি পাচ্ছে । বর্তমান হিসাব অনুযায়ী পুরা বিশ্বে মোবাইল ব্যবহারকারীর সংখ্যা ৫০০কোটির বেশি । মোবাইল অপারেটরদের সংস্থা GSMA এর এক জরিপ অনুযায়ী এই হিসাব প্রকাশ করা হয় ।
আমাদের বাংলাদেশের মানুষও এই মোবাইল ফোনের আসক্তি থেকে পিছিয়ে নেই । বিটিআরসি এর তথ্য অনুযায়ী এই বছরের ফেব্রুয়ারিতে বাংলাদেশের মোবাইল ব্যবহারকারীর সংখ্যা ছিল প্রায় ১৩ কোটি, যা জানুয়ারির থেকে ২ লক্ষ বেশি । এবং মোবাইলে ইন্টারনেট ব্যবহারকারীর সংখ্যা ৭ কোটি । আর বর্তমান বিটিআরসি এর হিসাব অনুযায়ী বাংলাদেশে মোবাইল ব্যবহারকারীর সংখ্যা ১৭ কোটি ৪৭ লাখ ৩৩ হাজার । মোবাইলে ইন্টারনেট ব্যবহারকারীর সংখ্যা প্রায় ১২ কোটি ।
মোবাইল ফোনের আসক্তির পাশাপাশি এটাই জনপ্রিয়তা এবং প্রয়োজনিতাও বৃদ্ধি পাচ্ছে দিনদিন, সাথে বৃদ্ধি পাচ্ছে এই খাতের প্রযুক্তির উন্নতি । গত ৪০ বছরে মোবাইল ফোন প্রযুক্তির ৪ জেনারেশন অতিক্রম করে ৫ জেনারেশনের যাত্রা শুরু করেছে ।
বর্তমানে পৃথিবীর বিভিন্ন দেশে 5G বা পঞ্চম জেনারেশনের ব্যবহার শুরু হয়েছে । আমাদের বাংলাদেশে 3G বা তৃতীয় জেনারেশন চালু হয় ২০১২ সালের আগস্ট মাসে । আর 4G বা চতুর্থ জেনারেশন চালু হয় ২০১৮ সালের জানুয়ারি মাসে । বর্তমানে বাংলাদেশের সব মোবাইল অপারেটরে এই দুইটি সেবা চালু আছে । শুধুমাত্র টেলিটক অপারেটর 5G বা পঞ্চম জেনারেশন চালু করেছে ।
টেলিটক বাংলাদেশের একমাত্র মোবাইল অপারেটর যা বাংলাদেশ সরকারের অধীনে চলে । গত ১২ ডিসেম্বর ছিল ডিজিটাল বাংলাদেশ দিবস, এই দিবসকে স্মরণীয় করে রাখে বাংলাদেশে প্রথমবারের মত 5G বা পঞ্চম জেনারেশন চালু করল সরকারী এই প্রতিষ্ঠান টেলিটক।
পরীক্ষামূলকভাবে দেশের ছয় জায়গাতে চালু করা হয়েছে 5G নেটওয়ার্ক। জায়গা গুলি হচ্ছে, ১. বঙ্গবন্ধুর জন্মস্থান গোপালগঞ্জের টুঙ্গিপাড়া । ২. সাভার জাতীয় স্মৃতিসৌধ এলাকা । ৩. প্রধানমন্ত্রীর কার্যালয় । ৪. ধানমণ্ডির ৩২ নম্বর। ৫. বাংলাদেশ সচিবালয়। ৬. সংসদ ভবন এলাকা ।
আশা করা হচ্ছে অল্প কিছুদিনের মধ্যেই ঢাকা শহরের প্রায় দুইশ জায়গাতে এই 5G নেটওয়ার্ক চালু করবে টেলিটক। আর অবশিষ্ট সব মোবাইল অপারেটর ২০২২ সালের মার্চের দিকে 5G এর জন্য আবেদন করতে পারবে । উল্লেখ্য ২০১৮ সালের জুলাই মাসে ঢাকায় প্রথম 5G নেটওয়ার্ক এর পরীক্ষা সম্পন্ন করা হয় ।

Mobile phone addiction is increasing day by day among people all over the world. According to current estimates, the number of mobile users in the world is more than 500 crore. The figures are based on a survey by mobile operator GSMA.
Our Bangladeshi people are not far behind from this mobile phone addiction. According to the BTRC, the number of mobile users in Bangladesh in February this year was about 13 crore, which is more than 2 lakh from January. And the number of mobile internet users is 7 crore. And according to the current calculation of BTRC, the number of mobile users in Bangladesh is 16 crore 46 lakh 33 thousand. The number of mobile internet users is about 12 crore.
Along with the addiction of mobile phones, it is also gaining popularity and demand day by day, with the advancement of technology in this sector. In the last 40 years, mobile phone technology has surpassed 4 generations and started the journey of 5 generations.
Currently 5G or 5th generation is being used in different countries of the world. 3G or third generation was launched in our country in August 2012. And 4G or 4th generation was launched in January 2018. At present these two services are available in all mobile operators in Bangladesh. Only Teletalk operators have launched 5G or the fifth generation.
Teletalk is the only mobile operator in Bangladesh that operates under the Government of Bangladesh. Last December 12 was Digital Bangladesh Day. To commemorate this day, Teletalk launched 5G or the fifth generation for the first time in Bangladesh.
Experimentally 5G network has been launched in six places of the country. Places are being shot, 1. Bangabandhu's birthplace is Tungipara in Gopalganj. 2. Savar National Memorial Area. 3. Prime Minister's Office. 4. No. 32 of Dhanmondi. 5. Bangladesh Secretariat. 6. Parliament building area.
It is expected that Teletalk will launch this 5G network in about 200 places in Dhaka city in a few days. And all the remaining mobile operators will be able to apply for 5G by March 2022. Note that the first test of 5G network was completed in July 2018 in Dhaka.
