Two buildings, a temple and a mud house have collapsed on the canal side in Madarbari area of ​​Chittagong city. Residents have been evacuated from the building. However, the residents of the building are now worried about the place of their heads. They protested on Tuesday.

The installations are located next to Gulzar canal in Parvati Para area of ​​Madarbari's Stand Road. A three-storey building, a two-storey building, a temple and a mud house collapsed next to the canal on Monday night.

There were at least 10 families living in the tilted building. Residents were evacuated from the building last night. They are protesting in the area today.

Qutub Uddin, inspector of Chittagong Fire Service's Agrabad station, told Prothom Alo that the tilted building has become dangerous for living. So all the occupants of the building were evacuated overnight. The electricity and gas connections of the building have been cut off.

 

The building owners claim that they have constructed the building with the approval of the design. He has built the building by borrowing. Now their building is tilted for work on the waterlogging project. They are worried because the building is tilted like this.

However, the director of the waterlogging project claimed that the buildings were not constructed as per the design.

Sushant Das, the owner of the three-storey building, said he had suffered heavy losses. He borrowed money and built the building two years ago. The building is constructed with all the approvals. He is now in great danger due to canal work. Now you do not understand where to go with the family.

Arti Das, wife of Manoranjan Das, the owner of the two-storey building, said, The CDA was repeatedly told but no action was taken. Now where to go with the children in this situation? Our financial situation is not good either. '

Shah Ali said in the first light, some parts of the two buildings were in the canal. It was evicted earlier. And the two buildings were not built according to the CDA design. If it is built according to the design, it should not be tilted like this. Maximum care is taken for project work. Sheet piles are provided along the canal to prevent landslides due to construction of retaining walls.

Shahinul Islam Khan, chief urban planner of the Chittagong Development Authority, told reporters that while approving the design, they were asked to construct a building 15 feet away from the canal. Those who have built buildings inside it are given time to remove it. But instead of removing it at this time, they have extended it. The building was damaged as soon as the canal started working normally.
