Lumpy Skin Disease, also known as LSD, is a viral disease of cattle. It is caused by Capripoxvirus of the Poxviridae family. It is highly contagious and can be fatal to cattle.

It is mainly caused by a virus.

The virus is mainly spread:

By blood-sucking insects such as mosquitoes, flies, ticks, bedbugs, etc.

By contact with saliva, milk, juice, wounds, etc. of infected cattle.

Through food, water or farm equipment used by infected animals.

Hard, round blisters or pustules appear on the body (especially on the neck, back, legs and face).

Fever (may reach 40-41 degrees Celsius).

Decreased appetite.

Fluid retention in the body.

Decreased milk production.

Watery eyes and nose.

The wound may become infected.
