With this in mind, the “Upazila-Level Imam Conference and Best Imam Selection 2026” was organized to enhance the skills of imams, encourage the exchange of experiences, and identify exemplary religious leaders. The program took place on April 5, 2026, at 10:00 AM at the District Model Mosque and Islamic Cultural Center in Chapainawabganj. The event was organized by the Islamic Foundation, Chapainawabganj.

The program began with the recitation of the Holy Qur’an, setting a spiritual tone for the event. In the welcome speech, the organizers highlighted the broader responsibilities of imams beyond leading prayers. They emphasized that, in today’s rapidly changing world, imams must actively contribute to promoting morality, tolerance, and humanitarian values within society.

Imams from various mosques across the upazila participated in the conference. They shared their experiences, challenges, and opportunities in fulfilling their duties. One of the key discussion points was the modernization of religious education and the importance of engaging youth with mosques. Speakers stressed that, in the digital age, imams should utilize modern communication tools, including social media and online platforms, to effectively spread religious teachings.

A major highlight of the event was the “Best Imam Selection.” Candidates were evaluated based on several criteria, including the accuracy of Qur’an recitation, depth of Islamic knowledge, quality of khutbah (sermons), involvement in social activities, and personal character. Participants demonstrated their skills in different stages of the competition, which attracted significant interest from the audience.

The judging panel consisted of experienced scholars and religious figures, who ensured a fair and transparent evaluation process. After careful assessment, the most qualified imam was declared the “Best Imam” and awarded a crest and certificate. This recognition is expected to inspire not only the winner but also other imams to strive for excellence in their roles.

During the discussions, speakers also addressed the need to combat religious misconceptions and social superstitions. They noted that proper Islamic education is essential to guide society in the right direction.
