Sohail Rana injured his knee last Monday. As the pain was more, he sought the help of a doctor. An MRI was done. There was no news of relief in the report. This experienced midfielder has been dropped from the camp of the national football team.
National team manager Iqbal Hossain confirmed Sohail's dismissal on Friday. He said that the camp which started with 27 players will continue with 26 players ahead of the friendly matches against Cambodia and Nepal.
Sohail has been handling the midfield of the national team since his debut in 2013. He is one of the experienced midfielders of the team. The absence of the 27-year-old midfielder for the Cambodia-Nepal match is a big blow for the team. Sohail himself told bdnews24.com about his disappointment.
“I got pain in my right knee while running in practice. I went to the doctor for an MRI. After seeing the report, the doctor said it will take four to five weeks to fully recover. During this period you should be completely rested. It feels bad to be kicked out of the camp.”
Sohel's injury is still lingering. He suffered a knee injury before a friendly against Indonesia last June. This midfielder of Bashundhara Kings was injured during the World Cup qualifiers in June last year as well.
Bangladesh will play friendly matches against Cambodia on September 22 and Nepal on September 27. Javier Cabrera's team will play both matches in the opponent's field.
